I am pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated website for my work Helmbrechts walk, 1998-2003.

I am currently working on a project entitled "The Dreamlife of Mayflies; Tisza River Project", documenting the 3 hour life of mayflies on the Tisza River in Hungary. A website will be built over the next year at www.tiszariverproject.com as a part of this ongoing work. I am also working on a portfolio of images entitled "Love in the Ruins; Sex over 50". This work is a personal diary of sex and sexuality, of the resilience and decay of the body. This project is ongoing.
"Helmbrechts walk, 1998-2003" -- the work described in my blog entry -- was shown at Hebrew Union College Museum in New York City through June 30, 2010 and traveled to Neuenhaus, Germany in the summer of 2010 for an exhibition at Kunstverein Graftschaft Bentheim in a bilingual German/English edition. In September this work was shown at Kunsthalle Exnergasse in Vienna in an exhibition entitled "Bless My Homeland Forever - I too shall try to forget."Over the course of this year a website devoted solely to "Helmbrechts walk" will be constructed and will include additional photographic and video imagery along with all of the scholarly articles written about the work. This site address will be www.helmbrechtswalk.com. A chapter of the new book "Landscapes of Holocaust Postmemory" by the scholar Brett Ashley Kaplan is devoted to a discussion of this work. The book was just published by Routledge.
Just published in The New York Times Modern Love column in the Sunday Styles section was my essay Sex on the Run? No, We Parked.
This spring I will have a solo exhibition at CB1 Gallery in Los Angeles. The portfolio, eyes wide shut, 2010 from the ongoing series; found birds – 2000 to the present will be shown in the main gallery space. The video performance A child of sixties television singing songs that got stuck in her head. will premiere in the project space. The exhibition in Los Angeles will be accompanied by a 64 page artist book containing the portfolio, eyes wide shut, 2010 and two written works – Found Bird and Bird of Prey. The book will be available for purchase at www.susansilas.com early in 2011.
I am an artist and writer living in Brooklyn, New York.
